Emma Masson & Shelly Deluca Take Cheerleading Reins

Sandwich HS graduates Emma Masson '12 and Shelly Deluca '13 have been appointed to direct the Sandwich HS cheerleading team. Emma and Shelly take the reins from Chelsea Craig and Reilly Romanelli who served the program incredibly well over the past several years.

Emma, entering her senior year, is an elementary and special education major at Bridgewater State University. She is a 2012 graduate of Sandwich HS where she was a four-year member and captain of a varsity cheerleading team that captured the Atlantic Coast League championship her freshman and senior seasons. Emma continued to cheer at BSU, winning National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Collegiate Nationals with her team in Daytona Beach, Fla. She also competed twice with Full House All-Stars of West Bridgewater, Mass. at the All-Star Cheerleading World Championship in Orlando, Fla. Emma later went on to cheer for the Boston Celtics Green Team this past season. In addition to coaching the varsity cheerleading team this year, Emma will also coach at Xtreme Cheer, a local all-star cheerleading facility.

Shelly Deluca, a 2013 Sandwich HS graduate, was a four-year member of the varsity cheerleading team that captured the Atlantic Coast League championship her junior year. In addition to her high school experience, Shelly was an all-star cheerleader for Xtreme Cheer of Sandwich, Mass. for seven years. At Xtreme Cheer, Shelly has been a part of several national championship teams and now serves as a cheerleading and tumbling coach. Shelly is USASF certified and will work primarily with Sandwich High School's junior varsity squad this year.

The Cheerleading team's first practice is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24th at 8am and will be held in the Sandwich HS gymnasium.
