Fan Behavior Guidelines & Expectations

The behavior in our stands during Sandwich High School athletic contests needs to improve. At times, the language and conduct, particularly in our student section, has been completely unacceptable. Given the fact that Sandwich Public School students are admitted free of charge, the very least you should do is behave yourself when in attendance. Our student-athletes, coaches, and community deserve better. Before attending your next game, familiarize yourself with these guidelines and expectations by clicking HERE. Violations will not be tolerated. Visit the Athletics Department for more information.

Gary White Memorial Ultimate Tournament | Sat., Aug. 29th

A little over a month ago, a beautiful man named Gary White passed away. Gary was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. In his short life he touched everyone around him with his genuine heart, dry sense of humor, and passion for his family and friends. Gary was an avid Ultimate player and an iconic figure running barefoot on our Sandwich streets while training for marathons. We are so proud to announce the very first annual Gary White Memorial Ultimate Tournament!

"One on One: Talent, Hard Work & Heart Personified " by Shawn Walsh

Sandwich High School recent graduate Joey Downes
does not let a minute of the day go by without continuously
attempting to perfect his basketball skills.
Sean Walsh/Capecod.com Sports

East Sandwich, Mass. - Just as the Cape’s first warblers crack the ebbing night’s silence and the sun barely begins to peak its head over the horizon, sounds virtually unheard by anyone but its maker reverberate in a dimly lit gymnasium each day.

It is the heavy, repetitive thud of leather upon finished albeit aged maple. It is the brief whisper of a nylon twine net as a 9.51-inch, 8.5-lb ball falls through it over and over again. It is the jarring squeak of rubber-soled sneakers stopping and accelerating across the dull-glazed parquet. Click HERE for complete article.

"2014-15 All-Cape & Islands Wrestling Team" by Shawn Walsh, capecod.com

HYANNIS – Owen Murray has always been big. Not overweight, or oafish, just exceptionally large and proportionately strong.

And then there’s his heart.

From an early age, Murray has never been much for too many spoken words. He’s always achieved or led by sheer physical performance and this winter marked the apex of a high school career like few others on the Cape. Not only did Murray finish as the only Red Raider in school history to win a New England championship title, he did so unbeaten at 38-0.

STEM Academy Outdoor Track & Field and Softball Update

As with any new program, projecting participation numbers prior to the start of the season is difficult. Due to low participation numbers at the STEM & High School levels, we have decided to make the following changes for the upcoming spring season:
  • We will be unable to support a STEM Academy Outdoor Track & Field team. Instead, 8th Graders will participate at the high school level. If enough interest exists at the 7th Grade level, a Spring Running Club will be created and begin in late-March.
  • 8th Graders are now eligible to tryout for high school Softball.
  • 7th Graders are now eligible to play STEM Academy Softball.
The high school boys & girls track teams will meet after school in the SHS Large Cafeteria on Mon. 3/16 at 2:45pm. 8th Graders interested in participating should attend this meeting to discuss the upcoming season with the coaching staff.
